Steve Cohen
Steven Cohen is the Executive Director of Columbia University’s Earth Institute and a Professor in the Practice of Public Affairs at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. He is also Director of the Master of Public Administration Program in Environmental Science and Policy at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and the Director of the Masters of Science in Sustainability Management at Columbia University’s School of Continuing Education. He is a consultant, former policy analyst, and former member of the Advisory Council on Environmental Policy and Technology for the U.S. EPA.
He is the author of Sustainability Policy: Hastening the Transition to a Cleaner Economy (2015), Sustainability Management (2011), Understanding Environmental Policy (2006, 2014), and the first edition of The Effective Public Manager (1988). He has coauthored The Responsible Contract Manager (2008), four subsequent editions of The Effective Public Manager (1995, 2002, 2008, 2013), Environmental Regulation Through Strategic Planning (1991), Total Quality Management in Government (1993), Tools for Innovators (1998), and Strategic Planning in Environmental Regulation (2005). Dr. Cohen is also a regular contributor to The Huffington Post.
