Deputy Director, NEFF, and Senior Fellow, US Dept. of State Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas

Frank Lowenstein serves as Deputy Director of the New England Forestry Foundation—the leading steward of New England’s forests and the most forceful and respected advocate for their conservation and responsible management. In that role he provides strategic leadership for NEFF’s Build It With Wood: The Green Carbon Pump program that seeks to build partnerships to encourage greater use of wood in buildings for climate mitigation and other benefits. He previously served as Director of Forest Health for the North America Region of The Nature Conservancy and as global Climate Adaptation Strategy Leader for that organization. He also serves as a member of the faculty of environmental studies at Brandeis University and as a senior fellow in the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas of the US Department of State. Frank is the author of three books, as well as popular and journal articles on climate change and climate adaptation. He is co-author of New England Forestry Foundation’s 2014 publication: New England Forests: The Path to Sustainability.
