Mark Read is a Colonel in the U.S. Army, and serves as the Head of the Department of Geography and Environmental Engineering at the U.S. Military Academy, West Point. A career infantry officer, Mark has served in a wide variety of assignments in the U.S, Europe, and the Middle East. His academic interests include climate variability and change, environmental security, and military geography. He holds a BS in Environmental Engineering from West Point, and a MS and PhD in Geography from The Pennsylvania State University.
